Densen Audio Technologies of Denmark is a high-end

manufacturer who combines innovative design with high

quality components. It is said that Densen amplifier

products sets new standards for the affordable high-end. As

in all Densen products the DM-10 employs an innovative

circuit topology combined with Densen's philosophy of

simplicity and reliability.

The DM-10 is an integrated amplifier, actually a

combination of a passive preamplifier with a dual mono

power amplifier into one chassis. Densen believes that

complex circuits with more part list will offer more

distortion, noise and slows the signal. The DM-10 is simple

yet profound because simple circuits are harder to design.

The listening test was the most important criteria

throughout the design phase of the DM-10. This line-level

only integrated amplifier is designed specially for the CD

only audiophile although other high- level sources may be

use in conjunction.

The amplifier section is fully dual-mono with separate

power supplies and transformers for each channel. The power

supply is overkill with 80,000 microfarads of storage

capacitance in each channel. It employs special low profile

Roederstein capacitors from Germany. The amplifier is rated

at a modest 75 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The

rectifying is achieved with separate rectification of

positive and negative voltages. Each winding of the 300 VA

power toroidaI transformers are isolated from each other

until after the rectifying has been done. The power supply

uses no less than 8 high-speed diodes per channel. Durable

Motorola output transistors are also employed.

This no-nonsense amplifier is equipped only with essential

functions. The sleek black front panel houses two large

high quality gold-plated knobs. The Alps input selector and

volume contcol are the only two parts that make up the

passive line stage. The audio signal is channel directly

into each amplifier stages via Densen's own wave-guide

signal cable. This is a high purity copper coated with

silver and insulated with Teflon. All component solder

joints are made of silver solder. The rear of the amplifier

houses two sets of 5 way gold-plated binding post for bi-

wire options in each amplifier channel.

The PCB is computer optimized and has a copper trace that

is twice the normal size. The signal path is kept very

short with the selector and volume pots found at the rear

of the chassis where the inputs are. The Densen DM-10

measures W 440mm x H 30Omm x D 78 mm. It weighs 14.5 Kg. If

you have heard of Gryphon, Primare or Coopland, then you

must get to know Densen. With today's high-end prices, it

makes sense to go Danish.
