Descrizione prodotto:
Sylvester Stallone è Joe Dredd, l'impavido giudice dei fumetti, che combatte la corruzione e la violenza per un futuro di giustizia.
The Comics
Dredd - The law is inspired by the homonymous cartoon character created in 1977 by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra and published in the British magazine 2000 AD., But has little to do with the comic. In an interview with Empire in 2012 Wagner said: "Dredd - The law is me nothing to do with Judge Dredd and Stallone is absolutely not Judge Dredd, despite being perfect for the role of the film."
Costumes
The original designs of the judges' costumes, including Dredd, had been entrusted to the stylist Gianni Versace, but they were not entirely realized with his sketches, and partially revised and corrected by Emma Porteus (007 Movable target, Aliens - Final Clash, 007 - Danger Zone, Robin Hood - Legend). In the film, moreover, 70 clones were used: some of these were dummies, but many were stuntmen who wore prosthetics: because they were glued they had to shave completely.
Cast
Before releasing the film to Danny Cannon, the producer had asked Tim Hunter to direct him starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Judge Dredd. The Coen brothers had also been offered to direct the film: the two declined to make Fargo (1996). Rob Schneider said he was called by Stallone after Joe Pesci refused the role of Herman Fergy Ferguson. It is said that Christopher Walken, however, has refused the role of Rico, then went to Armand Assante, who had already played Sylvester Stallone's brother in the film he directed, Taverna Paradiso (1978).
Motorcycles
Lawmaster motorcycles were designed and built from scratch for the film, and were so powerful that they could only be driven by stuntmen. For the actors, versions of safer motorcycles were made. In addition, one of the flying taxis used in the film was subsequently used as a prototype of what was to be "the most powerful automotive subwoofer in the world". Since the flying machines of Dredd, in fact, did not have glass, internal fixtures or frangible parts, they were considered the ideal vehicle to host two cinema hall subwoofers on the back.
