A special compound represents the perfect combination of stiffness in the longitudinal axis and flexibility in the lateral axis, due to the fact that a flat pedal shoe must offer unhindered power transmission in the longitudinal axis during pedalling. On the lateral axis, however, a certain amount of flex is required to prevent the foot from slipping.
