The ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6 is an ATX motherboard with Intel's Z370 chipset for the 8th generation of Intel processors (Coffee Lake), which uses Socket LGA 1151 as a foundation. The Z370 chipset is therefore a refresh of the "Kaby Lake" chipsets and comes with a maximum of 24 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes and plenty of HSIO-Lanes (High Speed I O) to enable multiple internal connections (such as SATA or PCIe-slots) to be connected simultaneously. As a Z370 motherboard this enables the ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6 to overclock K-series CPUs with come with an unlocked multiplier.

The ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6 in Detail

The ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6 is an ATX motherboard with an extensive feature set as well as the cutting edge Z370 chipset from Intel which is designed for Intel's 8000-series of Core processors. The board comes with a total of three PCIe x16 slots, one of which uses a full 16 lanes to connect to the chipset while the others use four and eight respectively. This allows the board to support NVIDIA's SLI- as well as AMD's CrossFireX technology to enable multiple graphics cards to be installed. For upgrades and expansion cards there are three PCIe 3.0 x1 slots.

Equipped with a total of four DIMM slots for DDR4-RAM in fast dual-channel mode, up to 64 GB RAM can be installed in the four memory banks. The Coffee Lake processors support memory frequencies of 2.666 MHz, and overclocking allows modules of up to 4.333 MHz to be used.

In terms of connections for data storage devices, the board comes with two M.2 slots for ultra fast NVMe-M.2 SSDs as well as eight SATA 6G connectors for 3,5"- or 2,5" hard drives and -SSDs (incl. RAID support). The M.2 ports are connected to the chipset via four PCIe 3.0 lanes and in combination with the NVMe protocol this enables a data transfer rate of nearly 4 GB s. This makes M.2 PCIe SSDs up to eight times faster than SATA 6G SSDs!

The I O panel of the motherboard comes with the new USB 3.1 Type C port, which is particularly thin and allows devices to be installed in either orientation. In addition to the Type C port, the motherboard also comes with a backwards compatible USB 3.1 Type A port. USB 3.1 ports are capable of achieving up to twice the speed of traditional USB 3.0 ports at 10 Gbit s! For input devices and other gaming peripherals the I O panel offers four additional USB 3.0 ports, of which one is a Fatal1ty mouse port. Internet connectivity is possible via two Gigabit LAN ports. First classs 7.1 sound is possible thanks to the Realtek ALC1220 Codec as well as Purity Sound 4 support and Creative's SoundBlaster Cinema 3. To this end the board comes with five 3,5 mm jacks.

Should no graphics card be present, the integrated GPU of the Coffee Lake processor outputs to a display via HDMI, VGA and DVI-D. The range of internal connectivity options include connectors for USB, fans, LEDs and much more. RGB-LED lighting is also available as a matter of course, and that's why this board offers multiple lighting zones for superb illumination.
